On Consecration Sunday, May 3, 2026, Church of the Messiah welcomed former lead pastor and special guest preacher Rev. Dr. Jim Wilson, District Superintendent of the Olentangy River District of the West Ohio Conference of The United Methodist Church. Preaching from Ephesians 4:1–10, Jim invited the congregation to see the church not as a cruise ship where people sit back and watch, but as a crew boat where everyone has a place, everyone has an oar, and together we row in the same direction. As part of the “From Me to We” sermon series, this message reminds us that Christian faith is participatory and communal. The newly renovated spaces at Messiah are not simply places to admire. They are a launching pad for ministry, connection, welcome, and mission. Jim calls the church to humility, unity, and shared purpose, challenging each person to “get an oar” and walk like a church.
