"Questions Jesus Asked" Sermon Series - "Why Are You So Afraid?"

Episode Summary

“May the peace of Christ be with you.” We say this to one another every week as a part of our worship experience. It’s an expression of hope, of courage, and of expectation that God, through Christ, offers a deep and abiding response to our struggles and fears. What makes you afraid? Spiders? Clowns? Public speaking? Mortality? Does it feel rational or irrational? No matter the source, fear is a lingering presence in our human experience. This week we continue our conversation around “Questions Jesus Asked.” In the midst of a storm on the Sea of Galilee, Jesus asks his disciples: “why are you afraid?” The answer seems obvious! The good news is that God does not leave us to be overcome by our fears. We’ll always experience fear sometimes, and, through Jesus, we become able to trust God’s faithfulness and to discover that we can face and live with fear. I look forward to joining with you for worship this Sunday as we explore this question.
