Rooted: The Character and Marks of a Methodist, "Grace is Never-Ending"

Episode Summary

John Wesley’s emphasis on sanctifying grace reminds us that salvation is not a one-time event but an ongoing process. Through the means of grace, such as prayer, scripture reading, fasting, and participating in the sacraments (baptism and communion), we open ourselves to God’s transformative work. Wesley believed that this journey toward perfection in love is a lifelong pursuit that draws us closer to the heart of God and equips us to love our neighbors more fully. This Sunday, we will discuss the profound concept of God’s never-ending grace—a cornerstone of John Wesley’s teachings. We will explore sanctifying grace, a pivotal aspect of Wesleyan theology that focuses on personal holiness and piety. Wesley taught that sanctifying grace is God's power working in us to renew our inner nature and enable us to grow in love and holiness. Our key scripture will be Philippians 3:7-11, where Paul speaks of the surpassing worth of knowing Jesus and the transformative power of His resurrection. This passage beautifully aligns with our theme of sanctification, as it calls us to press on toward the goal of becoming more like Jesus. Join us at any of our three worship services: 8:15 AM, 9:30 AM, and 11 AM. The 9:30 and 11 AM services are available online, and the 9:30 service includes special children's programming with nursery care, children's moments in worship, and kids' Sunday school. As we gather this Sunday, let us be inspired by Wesley’s vision of a faith that is believed and lived out in every aspect of our lives. I hope to see you there!
