Rooted: The Character and Marks of a Methodist, "The Form of Religion Without the Power"

Episode Summary

It doesn’t take a gardening expert to know – the strength and health of the roots determines the strength, health, and lifespan of the plant. It’s the same with political, social, and religious movements; their health, strength, and lifespan depends on the their roots. This Sunday, we begin a summer-long series called Rooted: The Character and Marks of a Methodist. We’ll (re)discover the roots of our Methodist identity that nourished our tradition from its inception, and which still define and strengthen our faith in Jesus today. While we’ll explore our historical and theological roots, these eight weeks won’t be a theology/history lesson. We’re exploring our roots to find what’s vital from where we’ve been, so that we might renew and deepen our understanding of how we follow Jesus the Wesleyan way in the 21st century, and beyond.
