“Who’s in charge here?” It’s the question we ask when we have comments to offer or complaints to register. It’s the question we ask when we want to know why things work the way they do. It’s the question we ask when we want to talk with someone about how to improve something. This week, as we continue to explore our Methodist Roots, the legacy that undergirds and informs our identity and practice as United Methodist followers of Jesus in 2024, we’ll spend a little time asking this question: Who’s In Charge? Who leads the church? People? Pastors? Board members? Jesus? What do our scriptures tell us? What does our tradition tell us? So many questions!
