Church of the Messiah UMC

"Volunteer Accelerator" Sunday Message

Episode Summary

This Sunday is going to be an exciting day at Messiah! We’ll be celebrating and learning about the many ways God has gifted each of us—and how those gifts can make a real difference in our church and community. Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 12, “Now concerning spiritual gifts, brothers and sisters, I do not want you to be uninformed…” He reminds us that we are one body, made up of many parts, and that the Spirit gives each of us gifts—not for our own benefit, but for the good of all. That’s what it means to follow Jesus: to actively live like him, using what we’ve been given to love God and serve others. We may not all have the same passions or skills, but each of us has something unique to bring to the body of Christ. So, we’re asking—what might God do in this season, in you and through you, if we all stepped a little further into using the gifts we’ve been given? To help us discover that together, we’re launching something new this Sunday: the Volunteer Accelerator. It’s a quick, meaningful tool designed to help you find ways to serve that match who you are and what you love to do. Here’s what you need to know: ✅ It IS… A quick 2–4 minute survey you’ll take right in worship. A way to explore what you enjoy doing and the environments you thrive in. A tool that connects your gifts and interests with real ministry opportunities here at Messiah. 🚫 It is NOT… It is NOT a sign-up or commitment—this is just a first step. It is NOT a new church database—it only collects basic contact information and what you share you have a heart for. It is NOT a spiritual gifts inventory—it focuses on what you like doing and where that might meet a need. I can’t wait to see what God will do in and through you as we continue to live as one body with many gifts—building up this community in meaningful, joyful ways.
